Mochamad Fajar (Didi) Syamsualdi joined Guido Hidayanto & Partners as a partner in April 2022. He is an Indonesian qualified lawyer with over 15 years of considerable experience in merger and acquisition, corporate finance, restructuring, corporate governance and energy works in Indonesia.
Prior to joining Guido Hidayanto & Partners, he was the youngest partner in one of the prominent law firms in Indonesia and served as a legal counsel with a state-owned enterprise focusing on national asset management. This provided him with invaluable first-hand experience of the finance industry that continues to serve him and his clients well to this day.
Besides his practice in M&A matters, he is also registered as Indonesian capital market legal counsel and plays leading roles in capital markets, banking & finance, and FDI matters. He has in-depth experience and expertise across an array of sectors, including mining and energy, aviation, banking, asset management, and infrastructure.
Among significant works, he assisted in the ground-breaking deal of IDR10trillion restructuring of Bank Muamalat non-performing assets, advised the syndication of lenders in the restructuring of USD1billion facilities to Adaro Indonesia, and advised the sellers in the sale of PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk. Other major mandates include advising joint book runners in the USD800million bond issuance by Adaro Indonesia, and a rights issuance by PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk. He also recently advised a leading Swiss investment firm on its sale of nickel company in Indonesia.
His breadth and depth of experience is built from a global legal education. After graduating from the University of Indonesia with his LL.B., he earned an LL.M in 2016 from the Queen Mary University of London, facilitated by the scholarship by the Centre of Commercial Law Studies at the Queen Mary University of London. He was also nominated as the Indonesian Young Lawyer of the Year at 2018 Asian Legal Business Indonesia Law Awards.
