Rick Beckmann is our Senior Foreign Counsel based in Jakarta since 1999, working on projects within Indonesia and throughout Asia. With long experience in Indonesia, he bringsan international understanding to legal issues as they arise locally.

Rick’s areas of practise include foreign investment, corporate/commercial and M&A, with a particular focus on resources and infrastructure.

His resources work includes regulatory advice, investment and due diligence, contracting, services companies, financing and disputes.

Rick was appointed by Indonesia in 2018 as expert witness with respect to mining due diligence in an arbitration in The Hague between Indonesia and a foreign investor.

He regularly writes for industry journals, and speaks at industry conferences. He has been recognised as a leading lawyer in Indonesia for projects and energy by Chambers Global and Legal 500, and as a leading lawyer in Indonesia for energy and infrastructure, financial and corporate law by IFLR1000. He has also been recognised by Who’s Who of Franchise Lawyers in Indonesia.

Rick is registered as Foreign Legal Counsel with the Indonesian Bar Association (PERADI) and holds a current New South Wales Practising Certificate.

He studied at university in Australia, Japan and China, and worked in Melbourne, Sydney and Tokyo before settling in Jakarta.
